Some main factors you need to consider before you choose a safe for your home or business:
Size

Think about the objects you want to store in the safe and, then, choose one bigger than you think you need. We often picture a list of items we would place in a safe, but in reality, we end up placing more and more items inside.
It is better to have a bigger safe than you originally think you need, so as to ensure you have more space.
Type of safe

Built-in or standing
We opt for a built-in sage when we are building or are willing to do construction work- renovations. Built-in safes are placed and attached inside the wall and due to the size of the wall, lack in depth.
We opt for a mounted safe with bigger depth (compared to a built-in one that needs to fit in the wall). Mounted safes are installed with an inside support by safety bolts that make it impossible to move. They are placed inside wardrobes, lofts, anywhere we can fasten them from below, behind or both.
Quality of materials

Quality-Certificates-Technical specifications
A low quality safe is, obviously, easier to crack. The design qualities of a safe are distinguished by the European certifications they have and their technical specifications: fire, strike and humidity resistance, time delays, screen, extra hidden compartment etc.
Security level

The level of security you need depends on the value of the items you plan on storing in your safe. It will ,also, depend on the requirements by your insurance company, if the items are insured.
Way of locking

You choose the way it will lock. The two prevailing ways are a safety lock and an electronic combination. The best choice is the combination, as it doesn’t require a key. Of course, there are more modern safes in the market which are activated by: fingerprint, password and card. It is up to you and your budget.
Placement - Weight

Correct placement is as important as the specifications. Avoid placing it in an obvious place. Go for narrow, dark, covert and hard to access small spaces. This way, you make the space difficult to work for burglars. It is important to know that the quality of a safe isn’t determined by its weight. Correct placement on concrete or a pillar is more important.
